Spike Wademan is a New Zealand based artist who's father was, incredibly, a Spitfire pilot in WWII.

The Spitfire in this image features the black and white stripes on the wings and fuselage that were painted on all allied aircraft for the D-Day mission - to ensure that they were not targeted by allied ground fire.
