Bobbi Beck - Pattern Peel & Stick Hanging Guide
Use this guide when installing Bobbi Beck Peel & Stick patterned wallpaper. The self-adhesive backing provides a paste-free installation, while careful measuring, wall preparation and pattern matching remain important for the best possible finish.
Important: Peel & Stick wallpaper should not be applied to textured walls, such as orange peel or popcorn finishes, as an uneven surface can create air pockets. Textured surfaces should first be sanded or skimmed smooth, or covered with suitable lining paper.
Freshly painted walls should be left for at least four weeks before application.
Before installation, allow the wallpaper to acclimatise to room temperature to help minimise shrinkage.
If you notice any issue with the wallpaper during installation, stop hanging it and contact us as soon as possible with photographs so that we can look into this before you continue.
Tools You Will Need
- Squeegee
- Sharp knife
- Straight edge
- Spirit level
Step 1 - Initial Preparation
The wall must be smooth and clean. Remove old loose wallpaper, cracked or peeling paint, nails and screws. Sand down uneven surfaces and fill any holes or cracks before beginning.
Absorbent surfaces should be prepared with an appropriate wallpaper primer.
Step 2 - Measure and Cut
Measure the height of your wall and mark the measurement on the reverse of the wallpaper.
Cut the first strip allowing approximately 100mm (4in) of vertical excess to account for variations in the height of the wall.
Check the match type and pattern repeat for your chosen wallpaper before cutting and matching the remaining drops.
Step 3 - Begin Hanging
Remove a small section of the release liner from the top of the first drop and position the wallpaper on the wall.
Apply firm, even pressure and use a squeegee to remove any air bubbles. Make sure the edges are firmly sealed against the wall.
Gradually remove more of the release liner while smoothing the wallpaper onto the wall, working from the top down until the complete drop is installed.
Step 4 - Continue Hanging
Carefully match the design as each subsequent drop is installed and butt the edges together without overlapping them.
Press the edges firmly against the wall to create neat, close seams and continue across the wall in the same way.
After Installation
Once installed, leave the wallpaper at room temperature for at least 24 hours and avoid significant changes in temperature or humidity during this period.
