Caltha palustris

Caltha palustris, commonly known as marsh marigold, is a robust marginal perennial with rounded, glossy green leaves that form dense clumps along pond edges and wet ground. In spring, it produces bright golden-yellow, buttercup-like flowers that stand above the foliage, providing one of the earliest and most vivid displays in wetland gardens.

This plant is highly valued for its early nectar source for pollinating insects and its strong presence in naturalistic pond and bog gardens. It thrives in shallow water and consistently wet soil, spreading gradually to create bold, wildlife-friendly colonies.
