The large Shy Tulip is the tall one. At 85 cm it is built for the cats who never quite fit a standard post: the ones who reach up, plant both front paws and still have shoulder left over. There is a direct relationship between how far a post lets a cat stretch and whether they bother using it instead of the sofa.

The bloom is long-pile lilac plush gathered into a soft heart, with two small eyes peering out from under the fringe and a single lavender petal folded back to one side. It is called shy for a reason. Below it the stem is wrapped in green and cream striped jute rope over a paper tube, with a plush green leaf leaning in at the base.

A yellow ball hangs on a cord from just beneath the flower head, sitting at the height a cat meets mid-stretch. The 39 cm round base is MDF finished in soft green fabric and weighted, so the post holds steady when a cat throws itself upward rather than rocking away from the swipe.

At 3.1 kg it is substantial without being furniture you have to plan a room around. It suits a hallway, the corner of a sitting room, or wherever your cat has already started scratching something you would rather they left alone.
