Fresh, Fragrant, and Fast-Growing – Select Your Perfect Variety.
-
Coriander 'Leisure' (Annual): The gold standard for leaf production. 'Leisure' is a broad-leafed variety specifically bred for its resistance to bolting (going to seed) in hot weather. It produces high yields of thick, succulent leaves, making it the best choice for those who use large quantities of coriander in cooking.
-
Coriander 'Confetti': A fascinating and decorative twist on the classic herb. 'Confetti' features incredibly fine, lacy, fern-like foliage that resembles carrot tops. It has a much sweeter, milder flavour and a delicate texture that makes it the ultimate professional-grade garnish for salads and plating.
Why grow our Coriander?
-
Dual-Purpose: Both varieties provide aromatic leaves for summer use and, if allowed to flower, produce spicy seeds that can be dried and ground.
-
Pollinator Friendly: The white umbel flowers are a magnet for beneficial insects and hoverflies.
-
Indoor & Outdoor: Perfect for a sunny kitchen windowsill or a sheltered garden plot.
Growing Instructions
-
Variety: Coriander (Coriandrum sativum)
-
Position: Full Sun or Partial Shade; well-drained soil.
-
Sow Outdoors: April to July.
-
Sow Indoors: All year round (on a light windowsill).
-
Sowing Depth: 1cm (0.5in).
-
Spacing: Rows 20cm apart; thin seedlings to 10–15cm apart.
-
Harvest: All year round (approx. 4–6 weeks from sowing).
Gardener’s Tip: Coriander has a sensitive taproot and hates being moved. For the best results, sow seeds directly into the soil or into deep pots where they will remain. To ensure a constant supply, "succession sow" a small amount of seed every 3 weeks throughout the growing season.
