How to Use

Skin Care

• EmulsiGel Eco has active properties and in itself is hydrating and soothing to the skin.
  
  
• It also increases the bioavailability of active materials so active materials that you add are more able to be taken up into the skin.
  
  
• As a thickener, it makes water based gels.
  
  
• The xanthan gum and sclerotium gum combine to give very elegant gel textures which are less sticky than other gelling agents as well as more resilient.
  
  
• Ideal for use in serums, anti wrinkle products and daily use moisturising primers.
  
  
• Especially favoured in men's grooming products for its non sticky feel.
  
  
• It increases the stability and viscosity (thickness) of your formulations. As an emulsifier, the lysolecithin allows smaller oil droplets in the emulsion which enable more stable and thinner emulsions.
  
  
• This enables you to make stable serums using CO2 Extracts and other actives.
  
  
• Makes excellent light lotions for daily use and suitable for acne prone skin care products.
  
  
• As a skin feel enhancer, the pullulan provides an exceptionally light feel with no stickiness and very good spreadability that feels as good as silicon products but from a natural source.
  
  
• Add when making creams and lotions for enhanced sensorial qualities.

Hair Care

• Combine with surfactants to make stable shampoos with a very elegant skin feel.

Other

• Add 0.3% or less to a formulation to improve the skin feel of the product.

• Use 1% or less combined with other emulsifiers to stabilise and improve the finished texture of creams and lotions.
  
  
• Use 1.5% to 2% as a gelling agent to give a gel with beautiful sensory feel.
  
  
• The gel has less tackiness than other thickeners and is more resilient.
  
  
• Premix with some glycerine for best results.
  
  
• Heat water to between 70°C and 75°C and add the combined EmulsiGel Eco and glycerine at high shear (use a stick blender).
  
  
• We have found that a short mixing time has worked well but the manufacturers recommend 20 minutes it you require long term stability.
  
  
• Cool down before adding heat sensitive actives.
  
  
• This will make a good base for serums, eye area products and light body gelées.
  
  
• It is also stable with up to 10% ethanol so makes a good gel base when using tinctures.
• Use 1.5% to 2% as the sole emulsifier to make light gel-creams and lotions with an ultra soft texture.
  
  
• 2% will emulsify a maximum of 10% oil (depending on the oils chosen).
  
  
• Premix the EmulsiGel Eco with some glycerine for best results.
  
  
• Heat water between 70°C and 75°C and add the combined EmulsiGel Eco and glycerine at high shear (use a stick blender).
  
  
• To emulsify into a lotion, add the oil phase at high shear but cool down whilst using a spatula to stir.
  
  
• Do not cool down whilst using high shear as this will damage the structure of the emulsion.
  
  
• Use in surfactant based shower gels and shampoos to increase thickness and give a wonderful texture.
  
  
• This works with surfactants but not detergents.
  
  
• It is stable between pH range 3 to 10 which means it can cope with acids like AHA’s as well as surfactants like our Natural Surfactant base.
