    Erigeron karvinskianus 'Profusion' Seeds

If you have a stone wall, a set of steps, or a gravel path that looks a bit too "new," Erigeron karvinskianus is the answer. Often called Mexican Fleabane, this incredible little plant creates a tumbling waterfall of tiny, daisy-like flowers that seem to spring from nowhere.

The variety 'Profusion' lives up to its name, smothering itself in blooms for months on end (often from May until November). The magic is in the colour change: the flowers open pure white, turn soft pink, and fade to deep purple, creating a beautiful multi-coloured "confetti" effect on a single plant. It is tough, drought-tolerant, and beloved by bees.

    🌿 Understanding the Plant

    Erigeron is a **Hardy Perennial**.

It forms a low, woody mound that comes back year after year. In very harsh winters it may die back to the roots, but it usually keeps some leaves in sheltered spots.

The Self-Seeder: This plant is famous for its ability to travel. It will drop seeds into the tiniest cracks in mortar or paving, softening the edges of your garden naturally. If it grows somewhere you don't want it, it is easy to pull up.

🌱 Growing Guide: How to Sow and Grow

Erigeron seeds are tiny and need light to germinate.

    Germination:
Sow indoors from February to May. Surface sow onto moist compost and do not cover (or use a very fine dusting of vermiculite). They need light to trigger growth. Keep warm (15-20°C). Germination takes 14-30 days.

    Where to Sow:
They love **sun** and **sharp drainage**. They hate winter wet. They are perfect for rockeries, hanging baskets, or being tucked into dry stone walls.

    The "Crack" Method:
To establish them in paving or walls, mix the tiny seeds with a little pinch of moist clay or soil to make a "seed bomb" and press it directly into the crack in the wall/path. Keep moist until established.

    🤝 Perfect Garden Companions

Erigeron looks stunning when softening the edges of structured plants:

    • 💜 Lavender 'Munstead': The Mediterranean Mix. The rigid, upright purple spikes of Lavender contrast beautifully with the low, frothy white and pink foam of the Erigeron.
    • 🪴 Succulents (Sedum): The Texture Contrast. The dainty, airy flowers of Erigeron look fantastic growing around the fleshy, solid leaves of Sedums in a rockery or stone trough.
