A length of indigo adire cloth — possibly the most recognisable indigo textile of West Africa, attributed to the Yoruba of Nigeria. The cotton is tied tightly to resist the dye in places (the adire oniko technique), then dyed and hand-beaten to set the colour. The indigo comes from plant sources: dried, crushed leaves are fermented with an alkaline solution, and the cloth is dipped repeatedly to deepen the shade.

A genuine one-off — lovely as a throw, table textile or wall hanging.

Size: approx. 140 × 110cm. Care: gentle hand wash only in cool water with a mild detergent — never machine wash, on any setting. As a natural dye, the indigo may not be fully colourfast.
