Litorella uniflora

Litorella uniflora, commonly known as shoreweed, is a low-growing aquatic and marginal plant with narrow, fleshy, grass-like leaves forming compact rosettes close to the substrate. Its subtle, tidy appearance makes it well suited to naturalistic ponds, shallow water, and wet, sandy margins where it creates a calm, understated effect.

This species has high ecological value, particularly in clear, unpolluted water, where it helps stabilise substrates and supports aquatic invertebrates. Its tiny, inconspicuous flowers are rarely noticed, but the plant plays an important role in maintaining balanced pond ecosystems and improving water quality.
