Ngongtan Mask TR149

A traditional Ngongtang mask from Eqautorial Guinea. The Ngongtang mask, once common and popular in the 1920's and 1930's, is now considered to be rare. 

Because evil sourcerers were thought to be entities from the spirit world with two or even four pairs of eyes, the fang "ngongtang" multiple-faced helmet mask was often used in tribal rituals aimed at locating them.
