Clove powder is the ground up, dried, unopened flower buds of an evergreen tree that is native to Indonesia.

Both whole and powdered cloves are dark brown in colour with a reddish tinge. They have a powerful and aromatic aroma and intense flavour that works well in many dishes. 

These small littles cloves are rich in important nutrients, minerals, and antioxidants.

Cloves can also cause a numbing sensation in the mouth. This is due to the eugenol found in cloves which is a natural anaesthetic and was traditionally used to numb and reduce toothache.
