Radish Seeds - Mooli - The Crisp Japanese Winter Radish (50 Seeds)

Mooli is a traditional Japanese-style radish (Daikon) celebrated for its elegant, long white roots and exceptionally mild, crisp flesh. Unlike the peppery heat of small summer radishes, Mooli offers a cool, refreshing flavor that makes it incredibly versatile in the kitchen. It can be peeled and sliced for a crunchy salad addition, grated into dressings, or added to stir-fries where it absorbs the surrounding flavors while maintaining a satisfying bite.

This variety is specifically selected for its high resistance to heat and common diseases, making it a reliable choice for the home gardener. The roots typically reach their prime quality at 10–12cm in length, though they can be grown larger with increased spacing.

    • When: June to September.

    • Method: Sow seeds thinly in shallow drills 1.5cm deep, with 30–35cm between rows.

    • Watering Tip: In hot weather, water the base of the seed drills thoroughly before sowing to ensure a cool, moist start for the seeds.

    • Thinning: Radishes should not be transplanted. Gradually thin seedlings to 10cm apart for standard roots, or up to 35cm apart if you want to grow large specimen Moolis.
