Radish Seeds - Sparkler - The Classic Bi-Color Round Variety (1,200 Seeds)

With its bright colors and crisp texture, 'Sparkler' is as attractive on the plate as it is in the garden. This RHS Award-winning variety is a "Gardener's Choice" favorite, instantly recognizable by its perfectly round, bright scarlet roots that end in a clean, snow-white tip. It’s the quintessential salad radish, offering a delicious mild peppery flavor and a satisfyingly crunchy white flesh.

Sparkler is incredibly fast-maturing and reliable. Because the seeds germinate so quickly, they are often used as "marker seeds"—sown in the same row as slower-germinating crops like parsnips or carrots to show where the rows are before the other vegetables emerge.

    Sowing & Growing Instructions

    Sowing Indoors (Under Glass):

    • When: Late January to March.

    • Method: Sow in modular trays or directly into greenhouse borders for an extra-early spring harvest. Maintain a temperature of 15–20°C for quick, even germination.

    Sowing Outdoors:

    • When: March to September.

    • Method: Sow thinly in shallow drills 1.5cm deep, with 15–30cm between rows. Radishes do not transplant well, so sow them directly where they are to grow.

Top Tip: For the best results, sow small patches every 2–3 weeks to ensure a continuous supply. Water regularly during dry spells to keep the roots tender and prevent them from becoming woody or overly hot.
