Radish Seeds - White Icicle - The Crisp & Tapered Summer Specialty (1,000 Seeds)

White Icicle is a striking departure from your typical round radish, producing elegant, slender roots that look as good as they taste. This heirloom variety is prized for its medium-long, tapered roots (averaging around 7-12cm) and its remarkably pure white skin and flesh. If you're looking for a radish with a clean, crisp crunch and a sophisticated sweet-yet-mild flavor, this is the perfect addition to your kitchen garden.

Because it matures so quickly, White Icicle is a fantastic choice for "catch-cropping" between slower-growing vegetables. Its unique shape makes it a standout on crudité platters and a conversation starter in any salad bowl.

    Sowing & Growing Instructions

    Sowing Indoors (Under Glass):

    • When: Late January to March.

    • Method: Sow in modular trays or directly into greenhouse borders for an extra-early spring crop. Ensure a temperature of 15–20°C for quick germination.

    Sowing Outdoors:

    • When: March to September.

    • Method: Sow thinly in shallow drills 1.5cm deep, with 15–30cm between rows. Radishes do not like being transplanted, so sow them directly where you intend to harvest them.

Top Tip: For the best quality, harvest when the roots are between 10-15cm long. Sow small patches every few weeks to maintain a continuous supply of fresh, sweet roots throughout the season. Keep the soil consistently moist to prevent the roots from becoming woody or unpleasantly pungent.
