Give your seeds and cuttings the professional start they deserve. Trialled and approved by Kings’ Horticultural Director, Andrew Tokely, our New & Exclusive Seed and Cutting Compost is a high-performance, peat-free alternative designed for superior germination and healthy root development.
Traditional composts can often be too heavy or nutrient-dense for delicate new growth. Our specialized formula features a fine-textured coco coir base enriched with 20% added Perlite. This combination ensures the perfect balance of moisture retention and aeration, preventing "damping off" and encouraging vigorous root systems.
Whether you are a competitive exhibitor or a home gardener, this compact, eco-friendly block provides a sustainable, space-saving solution for your potting shed.
Key Features & Benefits
-
Peat-Free & Sustainable: Made from responsibly sourced coco coir—a natural by-product of coconuts.
-
Enhanced with 20% Perlite: Provides essential aeration and drainage to prevent waterlogging.
-
Fast Germination: The fine texture allows delicate shoots to emerge easily and roots to establish quickly.
-
Space-Saving Design: Supplied as a compact, lightweight block—easy to store and carry.
-
Vegan Friendly: Contains no animal products or chemical additives.
-
Value for Money: One compact block expands to 15 Litres of premium compost—enough to fill approximately 8 half-seed trays or 24 9cm pots.
How to Use
-
Place the compact block into a large bucket or wheelbarrow.
-
Add 5 litres of lukewarm water.
-
Wait a few minutes for the block to swell and absorb the moisture.
-
Break up any remaining lumps to create a fine, fluffy texture.
-
Sow your seeds or insert cuttings immediately—no need to re-wet!
Expert Growing Tips
-
Feeding: This compost contains a gentle amount of feed to support early growth. We recommend starting a liquid feed program approximately 3–4 weeks after germination, once the first "true leaves" appear.
-
Watering: Coir-based compost can often look dry on the surface while remaining moist underneath. Use the "finger test" to check moisture levels before watering.
