Stromanthe like other plants from the Marantaceae family, are native to Brazil, growing in scrubland and clearings. The foliage is deep green, with a distinctive stripe down the centre in a paler green, and red abaxials (undersides). With the right care, this plant can reach 2 to 3 feet in height and 1 to 2 feet across, with the foliage reaching lengths of up to 50cm!
RATING- Moderate
LOVES- Keep soil moist at all times, allowing top two inches to dry before watering. Too much water will cause root rot. Keep in a bright position well away from direct sunlight.
HATES- Dry air- this plant requires high humidity so keep someone with moisture in the air (a bathroom) or mist the area surrounding the plant frequently.
