A miniature West African passport mask in terracotta. Small enough to sit in the palm of the hand, passport masks were never worn for performance — they were kept in a pocket or worn around the neck as sacred protective charms, carried between the living and spirit worlds. Each culture had its own distinct style, so the masks also served as a form of tribal identity.

A lovely small curio for a shelf, or grouped together.
