A 10mm low pile, and that is the point
Montana 3800 Cream Rug is a 10mm pile at 1450 gr/m². It is not a deep shaggy and it was never trying to be. The low pile is why it lies flat under a sofa, why dirt sits on top instead of sinking in, and why the hoover goes over it in one pass.
One customer put it better than we can:
"Very short pile so easy to vacuum, great when you have a dog!"
If you want something deep and sinky to dig your toes into, this is not that rug, and our shaggy range is the one to look at. If you want a rug that takes daily traffic and cleans up quickly, it is.
What it is made of, and why that matters
100% polypropylene, machine-made with a heat-set pile on a jute backing. Three things follow from that:
Montana 3800 Cream Rug is a 10mm pile at 1450 gr/m². It is not a deep shaggy and it was never trying to be. The low pile is why it lies flat under a sofa, why dirt sits on top instead of sinking in, and why the hoover goes over it in one pass.

What it is made of, and why that matters
100% polypropylene, machine-made with a heat-set pile on a jute backing. Three things follow from that:
- Polypropylene does not absorb liquid the way wool or cotton does, so a spill sits on the surface instead of soaking in. Blot it with a damp cloth, work from the outside in, and let it dry.
- The heat-set pile means the fibres are locked in, so it does not shed the way a tufted rug does.
- The jute backing gives it weight and structure, which is part of why it sits flat.
Tested to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, so every fibre has been independently checked for harmful substances.
Honest about the colour
It is cream with grey running through it. Worth knowing before you order: cream photographs warmer than it looks on a floor, and in a north-facing room it will read cooler and lighter than it does in these pictures. If the shade is wrong when it arrives, tell us and we will collect it.
Which size, and the mistake most people make
Large (160x230) is the size most people choose for a living room. Extra Large (200x290) is the one to pick if you want the front legs of the sofa and the chairs all sitting on the rug. XXL (240x340) is there if the room takes it.
If you are between two sizes, go up. Too small is the thing customers tell us they wish they had got right first time.

It arrives rolled, so it will have fold marks. Lay it flat and walk on it and they settle. On a hard floor a gripper underneath stops it sliding.
