Vintage Korhogo Cloth L - 240 x 120 cm

A Korhogo cloth, handcrafted by the Senufo people of northern Côte d'Ivoire. Narrow hand-woven cotton strips are stitched together into a large canvas, then hand-painted with natural earth pigments and fermented mud dyes — the muted blue-purple ground from natural indigo and vegetable washes.

Korhogo cloths are known as "painted stories": their stylised figures (here, human figures in traditional and uniform-style dress) represent community history, folklore and spiritual protection. A genuine one-off — striking as a wall hanging or throw.
