Zhou Family Handmade Wuyi Da Hong Pao

Da Hong Pao is one of China's most famous teas. It is a rock tea (Yancha) from Qin Shi in the Wuyi Mountains. The name translates to big red robe: Legend has it that this tea cured the mother of a Ming dynasty emperor from an illness, so he sent red robes to protect the bushes from which it originated. This tea is hand-made by the Zhou family Tea Masters. This is a medium roasted Da Hong Pao and carries a mellow, fruity flavour with blackcurrant notes and a rich roasted aftertaste. The best flavours from this tea come when it is made in Gong Fu style.
